An ideal solenoid, which is not infinitely-long
An ideal solenoid is investigated, which is not infinitely-long. The magnetic field and the self-inductance of this solenoid are determined, and limiting cases are studied. For cases that the cross section of the solenoid is a circle, or two parallel lines, calculations are performed in more detail, and more explicit results are obtained.
